There were a couple of thread spinning around with stuff, but this topic should get more attention.

If you've heard of anything or know of anything or just want a place to share information, then post a comment here.

I need myspace website entries for some of the oldtimers.  I also don't have eden's blog address.

If you have any of that good stuff, post here.

thanks for your patience.

Before everyone gets too excited concerning the LP forum being off line and this possibly being the end,  let it be noted that ALL of the Invision Power Board forums are down.  Bonnie Raitt, Radiohead, Bob Segar, The Beatles, every single one of them is down.  Just Google Invision Power Board and a list of Capitol artists' forums, including Liz, will come up.  I tried at least 10 different artist forum links and got the same non - response.  I believe the entire Invision Power Board system is fucked!  I doubt anything will be done to fix the problem untill tomorrow, 3-5-07.  However, should Tramp's concern be confirmed and this is the end for Liz's forum, I think this forum should be designated the new, unofficial Liz Phair Forum.  All displaced Liz forum members can relocate here.  EDIT:
Okay, I did find a few other Invision Power Board forums that did work.  Lenny Kravitz , Mick Jagger, and Iggy Pop worked but NONE of the others.  Also, Liz's official website is still up and working.

There's been no confirmation for anything, but people will be wondering what is going on.  At least this thread, with its eye catching title, will attract attention.

I actually hope this is all a false alarm.

This feels permanent.  Too bad.  I really liked the "official" Liz Phair forum, despite its penchant for periodically purging hundreds of posts.  It shows us that fan sites should be run by fans, not by record companies.  Hopefully the faithful will congregate here at the GS forum until such time that Liz finds a new label (assuming that she has been dropped, which may not be the case).

The sad thing is, even if some members come here, there's a good chance some of them will get bored quickly at the lack  of activity.
And not to mention that they won't be replaced by new members, as it's not quite as easy for a Liz phan to find this site in comparison to the official forums.

I've been getting connection refused errors.  This means that the host name is pointing to something valid out there, but that the "service" (ie, the web server/message board software) is not running.

The main site is still up, but hasn't been updated in a year.  I'm guessing that that won't happen.

The other alternative is to get a pointer from Mesmerizing website.  I've sent an email to Ken, but have gotten no response yet (although I didn't ask about a link from Mesmerizing).  I've noticed that the links page on Mesmerizing seems pretty stale.

I've got my own webpage with links to various Liz websites, but getting it noticed is actually going to be harder than getting this site, which seems to be on the google search path.

Yes, this will be an ongoing problem.  People looking for Liz Phair info will probably NOT find the girlysound site without better links to direct them.

Me too.

If the old forum really is dead, then we should re-start some of the threads over here.

It's back up.  I just got it.

All of the "current" posts are from 3/3/2007, but it has returned.

I'm sorry about the false alarm folks, but we're executing in the dark.

I thought that it was important for somebody to say something and say it with a subject line that would attract attention.

The next time, I'll probably just say that the Forum has gone offline and we'll draw our conclusions only when it stays offline.

Thanks for your patience.  This was a learning experience for me, too.

This was real when it was happening.   Nobody knew anything, but we tried to react and pass along useful information.

P.S., I modified some of the subject lines, in case someone walks in after the fact and doesn't react well.

If there were mistakes made during this mess, then I'm sure that I made some of them.  However, I'd still mostly handle it much the same way if I had to do it all over again.

It's been really slow (took me 3-4 times as long to do anything last night and tonight is same performance.

The slow response sucks really big, but at least it's up.
