Well, I'm glad that it did actually go off.  I think that John McCain made a big mistake in trying to call it off.

Barack Obama did well in the debate.  This was interesting, because it was supposed to be a big plus for John McCain.  You didn't see a big knockout and both candidates held their own.

I'm really interesting in seeing how the independents view the results of this debate.

There will probably be a big spin by both campaigns on how well each side did, but the important thing is how this debate influences the election.

The only really poll that counts is the one coming up in November.

There's a big bru-ha-ha around on twitter about the fact that John McCain uttered "horse shit" underneath his breath during the Presidential debate last night.

I agree that with my wife that this shows poor judgment on John McCain's part to do this on something that will be beamed around the world, but it is a distraction from the real issues.

Like what are we going to do to fix the financial meltdown of Wall Street.

Like how long we are going to stay in Iraq.

Like when are we going to refocus on the real perpetrators of 9-11.

Like the real issues of this country.

Argh!

I thought that the second Presidential debate in Nashville went well, but McCain really needed to hit it out of the ballpark tonight, and he didn't.

The poll numbers seem to be favoring Obama.  The election is still a month off and we'll just have to see how it really plays out.

Be sure and to monitor the electoral vote on the two election websites:

I came home and the big thing on twitter was the "My fellow prisoners" comment by John McCain on the campaign trail.

Theatre of the absurd.  or Theatre of the Twilight Zone.

Here's a funny followup to the "my fellow prisoners" bruhaha.

WSJ reported the story here.

Here was the problematic portion of the article:
Quote
McCain Addresses ‘My Fellow Prisoners’

Elizabeth Holmes reports from Strongsville, Ohio, on the presidential race.

In a campaign with plenty of gaffes to go around, John McCain added one to the mix Wednesday. The Republican vice-presidential candidate addressed a crowd in Pennsylvania as “my fellow prisoners.”

The only problem is that McCain is the Presidential candidate, not the VP candidate as they report in the article.  I guess that it's too much for them to handle as well.

In the third Presidential debate, a lot of time was spent with Joe the Plumber.

Hey, some of us remember the last time that the Republicans brought up "plumbers".  It was at the time of Watergate and the "plumbers" were employed to stop leaks, but not related to running fluids in pipes.   Grin

The plumber deal played big on twitter today.  I didn't realize that the plumber doesn't have a license and he owes back taxes.  Not the greatest of moves.
