I received a note on twitter from one of the old regulars that there is a "account suspended" message over on LPF.
I confirmed that it is now saying "account suspended"

I've been seeing a fair amount of interesting new through twitter. Ken, robnashville, jivafox, vociferous_girl, and several others have accounts.
I also thought that you shouldn't depend on one source of news or interactions. The big problem that I saw with LPF was a group that thought that they owned the forum and nobody else's feelings mattered. Everyone's feelings matter, or nobody's feelings matter.
Once you get into other venues, you figure this out. In the 2 1/2 years since I left active use of the forum, I've found other places to socialize online with an older crowd. You don't see people acting all that immature, but it's not perfect.
I did miss talking about the music. That was motivating me coming back to a more active use, but I probably would have needed to provide somewhat of an explanation. It's all really moot at this point.
The Liz Phair refugee camp died the summer of 2008. LPF now appears gone. At least there's some activity on at lizphair.com and we get updates from @Liz_Phair (Liz Phair news).
I saw that Ken logged in earlier and read my initial post. I assume that he'll forward information into the mailing lists, which I'll join at one point.

Well it's been FOREVER SINCE I logged in to post here. Been lurking for the past couple of years but been basically hanging around the Spam Phair Forum looking for videos of hot Milfs and watching poor Ken trying to keep up deleting all the porno spammers' posts. Yeah it was bound to happen sooner or later(LPF going down). Hell I thought it was going down in '07 and proposed at that time that if it did go down that everyone head over here to Girlysound, unless this too is going out of commission sometime soon. If the powers that be here have no objection to the civil, mature, former LPF members migrating here to continue any further discussions of Liz related news as well as any other interesting and intriguing topics , I believe I might start spreading the word to head here. Cool or not cool? What do you think the chances are that maybe Liz or her management are revamping the forum and will be cranking it up again in the near future. Maybe when they finish the new LizPhair.com website they'll do the same with the forum?? Probably not, we'll see.

xray. I always admired you. You were one of the people that I sincerely missed. I always thought that you were focused on Liz and that's what the forum should have been.
The spam was one problem, but it wasn't the only problem.
What we all need to remember is that the love of Liz is what brings us together. It's all about the music.
If we just remember that, then it can be a fun place and we can all learn from each other. That's all that I wanted.

I was BlackZeppelin at the old forum. It's kind of bizarre that the forum would close now. I realize that it was living on borrowed time anyway, though. I wonder who (if anyone) actually disabled it, and if this means some more online content from Liz will soon follow. |

i actually felt sad that LPF died. it was loaded with flaws but i still enjoyed lurking there and then eventually posting there under my awkward username FearInYourHeart. it started to come back to life after Funstyle was released which makes it even sadder for me. i don't know if this forum is active enough to entice other LPF posters. i probably won't post or lurk here. it's not the same. and why does Gev hate LPF now? he seemed like a good poster in his pinned Girly Sound thread

We're minus the incessant spam. Multiple active moderators. Sure, it's not quite so loud as LPF, but is that a bad thing? A message board is only as good as its aggregate membership. It's the members that count. |

If you want to dig for anything at the old forum pre-May 08, Archive.org might be your best bet. Strange that there's no newer date. Capitol probably blocked it from crawling the forum.
