This review gets a lot of things right. Humor has always played a big role. And it's too bad that so many people don't value irreverence. Seriously. Look at what's been written about Bollywood. Critics focus on the rap and totally miss out on the banjo. An insult to rap music? God I hope so.
And this review rightly recognizes Funstyle as a transitional album. One thing for sure. Nobody has any idea what might come next.

I'm absolutely shocked, Jim DeRogatis, Chicago music critic and notorious Liz basher, just reviewed 'Funstyle' and actually gives alot of props to Liz for the album. He 'digs' the 6 'experimental' tracks but trashes the other half of the album. Still a 2 out of 4 is a big thumbs up from a guy like DeRogatis. Courtney Love gave DeRogatis a big 'FUUUUUCK YOOOOU!!" from the stage during a recent Hole concert in Chicago. http://bit.ly/aZwRdZ |

Liz's 'Funstyle' is now listed on Metacritic with 7 reviews, 4 positive, one average, two negative. 54 average, mixed or average reviews. About the same as SM. Personal opinion, 'Funstyle' is WAY more interesting and overall a superior album to SM. Average user rating, 7.0 out of 10. Log on and rate the album. As do I. She said they had sold about six or seven hundred in the interview with Ken Lee, which is a little less than a week after the album released. It's probably been a couple thousand or so. I wonder how much Liz gets to keep of that money, since it wasn't released through a record label.

For anyone curious about the sales figures... Liz doesn't have the current totals at the moment, but she tells me that Funstyle is selling at a rate of 600/700 a week. I'll see if I can get a hold of the total number of sales...  |
