Noticed "the ongoing search for tape three" when I visited http://girlysound.com/tape3.html for the first time -- and wonder if I might be able to help. I went to Oberlin at the same time as Liz and I just found some of my own copies of the early Girly Sound cassettes that I made with some care at the time (though what generation they are, I do not know), including a metal TDK cassette labelled Girly Sound III. I am not sure if you are still looking for or have a better version. Let me know.

The elusive tape 3 is the holy grail around these parts.  If you would like to share I'm sure EVERYONE including myself  would be eternally grateful.  Any assistance you might provide would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley

Hi aka,
We're still looking for Girly Sound tapes.  If you could make copies of your cassettes, I could pass it along to Liz.  Contact me via email.  Smiley

This could be the best Christmas ever if this pans out.

It's been a great year for Phair and her fans. I don't suppose you've listened and got a track list yet?

Welcome.

Heck, yes. If I were Sue Simmons (for those in the New York City region), I'd wanna know what the eff are you doing (with those tapes)?

I always liked calling her "Booze" Simmons.

I suggest that if indeed this is a real GS Tape 3, that copying, etc. be handled by the highest level audio professionals possible rather than an average Joe making a copy on a boombox. Given however many generations the tape might be, and possible tape degradation and wear and tear after all these years, it should be handled like the Grail itself.  Sending the tape itself to Liz  to have pros handle it and then sending it back to the guy--or a copy if he's cool with letting Liz keep what would serve as the "new original"--might be the best way to do it for quality purposes. Digital recordings of the Tape 3 should be made off this "new original," too, of course.

This is earth-shattering  news if true.

If you have the third tape, take a picture of it and post the picture of the tape here on the forum.

We can probably get some clues as to the condition of the tape, etc. from a picture of it.  Probably would be useful to have a flat shot of the front and a close up of the tape surface itself.
