I suggest that if indeed this is a real GS Tape 3, that copying, etc. be handled by the highest level audio professionals possible rather than an average Joe making a copy on a boombox. Given however many generations the tape might be, and possible tape degradation and wear and tear after all these years, it should be handled like the Grail itself. Sending the tape itself to Liz to have pros handle it and then sending it back to the guy--or a copy if he's cool with letting Liz keep what would serve as the "new original"--might be the best way to do it for quality purposes. Digital recordings of the Tape 3 should be made off this "new original," too, of course.
