Just saw the video. It was great to hear Liz talk about the change in her sound in a contextualised way. I really wish... oh well, it's my fault I haven't tried yet. But it was so good to hear her talk about the experience with some distance and be able to so eloquently sum up where she felt the issues with that album came from. She did pick the packaging and marketing of it, and mention the way that she simply could not be dressing up in such a radical fashion as she did during the indie years of her career. It's nice to see that she sees it as a continually evolving process rather than it being a jump in different approaches in that she was still doing what she wanted to do within the constraints that she found herself at the time and had wished that there wasn't a double standard where this wasn't understood clearly. I think her best summation and understanding of her fan base's reaction than I've even heard her articulate before. Thanks xray. I didn't realise there was an article to go with it.
